FAQ
If you have questions, we have answers
How long will it take me to see the results?
Most people see a difference from our first working session. However, it depends on your coaching goals and willingness to go deep. For some clients, doing the inner work is a new terrain that may require several sessions to get comfortable with. For others, it is like riding a bicycle: they’ll start pedaling from the get-go.
What is different about Wayfinder Coaching compared to other styles of coaching?
I love Martha Beck’s approach to coaching. It has a great balance between scientific research, psychology, human exploration, and spiritual component, where guiding clients towards their own wisdom is the main objective. I get discouraged when a coach tells me what to do or not because I believe in our unique perspectives. But Wayfinding focuses on partnering with clients so we can meet them where they are in the Change Cycle and support them during their transformations, constantly checking their bodies and authentic selves. Martha Beck’s books changed my life, and I feel very fortunate to have studied her methodology from her and her master coaches.
What is the advantage of working with a Certified Life Coach?
Getting certified as a Wayfinder Life Coach requires studying various tools to support clients during their different moments of transformation. Most importantly, certified coaches had to undergo a rigorous curriculum, evaluation, and practice hours and abide by the International Coaching Federation and Wayfinding Code of ethics and principles. You can trust that a certified coach is well-prepared to guide you in your journey.
What is the difference between therapy and coaching?
Although both disciplines fall into the realm of personal growth, they serve entirely different purposes. Therapy allows us to address issues that affect our mental health and well-being. A therapist is the equivalent of a doctor that we go to when we have a health ailment. Coaching is designed to help a client grow and expand. It would be the equivalent of a personal trainer. You are healthy but need support getting stronger and in better shape.
May I do therapy and coaching simultaneously?
Only you can determine what you need. Although a small intersection exists between therapy and coaching, they serve different purposes, and it is possible to take advantage of working with a therapist and coach simultaneously. But again, it all depends on your situation. Please reach out if you have any doubts about your specific case.
Do you have a sliding scale?
Although my prices are fixed, I offer limited appointments on a sliding scale to accommodate clients who may need assistance. If you think you will benefit from coaching and want to discuss the possibility of a reduced rate, please contact me so we can discuss your specific situation.
What happens in a discovery session?
We will talk for 15-20 minutes to see if what I offer and what you are looking for align. I will respond to your basic questions, and you’ll be able to realize if coaching may seem like a good option for this.
What will happen between sessions? Would I have homework?
Spacing sessions by two weeks offers ample time to continue building insights, integrating learning, and practicing the lessons acquired. Depending on the topics we are working on, you may even get an assignment or next steps to put into practice. However, I am available for questions anytime in between sessions.
What happens if I need to cancel a scheduled session?
I ask for a 24-hour cancellation notice. If you need to cancel with less time than that, more than once, I may charge you 50% of a session for a no-show.
Why do I need to get a package of sessions? May I try a single session?
We need to design a medium/long-term approach to get the real benefit of coaching. As you start getting closer to your goals, you’ll find a lot of layers that need to be peeled and things that need to be unlearned to remain on the path of authenticity. After you use a package of sessions, you are welcome to purchase individual sessions as needed.
How does the subscription for Growth Collective work?
Growth Collective is a platform where we can support each other on our Path to Authenticity. When you subscribe, you can join one of the groups that best aligns with your goals. You can choose from Authenticity, Finding your Purpose, Unleashing your Creativity, and Reconnecting with your Intuition. Each member has access to the Facebook private group, where all members will share tools, information, and inspiration. You also have the option to share your goals with the group if you need accountability. Additionally, you’ll receive tools and relevant articles to help you advance in your journey by email and have access to a monthly group Zoom meeting. You can cancel anytime, so feel free to test it out.
How will my life be different as a result of coaching?
My number one goal is that you connect to your authentic self and start living according to your soul’s desires. That implies that you grow and transform into something new. Of course, the level of transformation is up to you and your willingness to do the job. All the tools we use during coaching are learnings you can use for the rest of your life, so I hope you keep using them even after we stop working together.
What do you do with the information I share with you?
As a certified coach, I follow Wayfinder Coaching and ICF (International Coaching Federation) principles and competencies. That implies I commit to confidentiality. I will not share your information or any story you have shared with me with anyone else because I value our trust. The only rare exception will be if I see that you or anybody else in your surroundings is in imminent danger because then, as a coach, I become a mandated reporter. Our sessions are a safe space, and it is my priority that we keep it like that.
